A poster of Fauda Season 5
Fans of intense action, suspense and realistic political thrillers finally have a reason to return to one of Netflix’s most talked-about Israeli series. Fauda Season 5 is now streaming globally on Netflix, bringing Doron Kavillio and his team back for another dangerous mission.
The new season takes the story in a different direction following the events of October 7, 2023. According to the show’s creators, the storyline was rewritten after the attacks because they felt the series could not ignore an event that had such a significant impact on the region.
Unlike a straightforward action series, Fauda has always focused on the personal cost of conflict. Season 5 continues that approach, exploring trauma, revenge, friendship and the consequences of living through prolonged violence.
What Is Fauda Season 5 About?
The fifth season takes place two years after October 7, 2023. The story follows Doron as he struggles with the emotional consequences of everything he has experienced while becoming involved in another dangerous operation.
The season begins when an old friend’s unauthorized revenge mission in Marseille, France, pulls Doron into a deep-cover operation. What starts as an attempt to deal with revenge quickly develops into a much larger threat.
This time, the series puts greater emphasis on characters who are dealing with the aftermath of conflict rather than simply rushing from one mission to another.
Lior Raz, who plays Doron and co-created the series, has described the new season as being about characters who are dealing with trauma and the consequences of war.
Why Is October 7 a Major Part of Season 5?
The October 7, 2023 attacks became an important part of the creative process behind the new season.
The writers had already started working on Season 5 after the fourth season premiered in January 2023. However, after October 7, the story was reworked to reflect the new reality surrounding the characters and the region.
Two episodes of the 11-episode season specifically take place on October 7, 2023, following the characters through their experiences on that day.
The creators have also explained that writing these episodes was emotionally difficult because they were dealing with an event that had affected people on different sides of the conflict.
At the same time, the creators have stressed that Fauda remains a television drama rather than a documentary. The season uses fictional characters and storytelling to explore the human consequences of real-world events.
Revenge Is One of the Main Themes
The Arabic word “Fauda” means “chaos,” which has always reflected the unpredictable world of the series.
For Season 5, another important concept is “tha’r,” or blood revenge.
The idea goes beyond ordinary revenge. It refers to a cycle in which people feel obligated to seek revenge after the death of a family member or someone close to them.
This concept becomes an important part of the new storyline as the characters are forced to question where revenge ultimately leads.
Rather than presenting conflict simply through action sequences, Season 5 looks at what happens to people after the fighting and how revenge can continue the cycle of violence.
Lior Raz Returns as Doron
Lior Raz returns as the central character, Doron Kavillio.
Doron has been at the heart of Fauda since the first season. His character has repeatedly found himself caught between dangerous operations and his personal life.
In Season 5, viewers see a different side of Doron as he attempts to deal with the psychological effects of his experiences.
The season begins with Doron trying to work through his trauma and seek professional help. However, circumstances quickly force him back into the dangerous world he has spent years trying to survive.
This creates a different kind of conflict for the character: not just fighting an enemy, but dealing with the impact that years of conflict have had on him.

The returning and new cast members include:

Where Does Fauda Season 5 Take Place?
Previous seasons of Fauda have taken viewers through different locations across Israel, the Palestinian territories, Europe and the Middle East.
Season 5 expands the story further, with a significant part of the new narrative connected to Marseille, France.
The international setting allows the creators to take Doron’s story outside the familiar environments of earlier seasons while maintaining the show’s focus on undercover operations and personal relationships.
Who Created Fauda Season 5?
Fauda was created by Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz, who also serve as executive producers.
Season 5 was directed by Omri Givon.
The writing team includes Omri Shenhar, Avi Issacharoff, Lior Raz, Sari Azoulay Turgeman, Omri Givon, Yona Rozenkier and Nir Berger.
The series is produced by Liat Benasuly.
Raz and Issacharoff’s personal experiences have also played an important role in shaping the series. Both have spoken about their connection to the world of military operations and the desire to explore not only the action surrounding conflict but also its psychological and personal consequences.
How Is Season 5 Different From Earlier Seasons?
The earlier seasons of Fauda became known for their fast-paced action, undercover missions and unpredictable storylines.
Season 5 continues those elements but puts more attention on the emotional consequences of conflict.
Instead of portraying its characters simply as fighters, the new season explores what happens when those fighters have to live with the memories and trauma of what they have experienced.
That makes the new season more focused on the people behind the missions.
The story also raises questions about revenge and whether continuing a cycle of violence can actually change anything for the people involved.
When Did Fauda Season 5 Release?
Fauda Season 5 is now streaming globally on Netflix.
The season consists of 11 episodes, with two episodes specifically focusing on October 7, 2023, while the main storyline takes place two years after the events of that day.
For viewers who have followed Doron’s journey from the beginning, the new season continues the story while introducing a new international setting and a more personal storyline.
Final Thoughts
Fauda has built its reputation around realistic action, complicated characters and stories inspired by the realities of conflict. Season 5 continues that approach while dealing directly with the events and consequences that followed October 7, 2023.
